SHAH ALAM: The police have completed their investigation into the fatal road rage incident that took place at the PLUS Highway near Bandar Baru Bangi.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab the completed investigation papers have been sent to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) pending further action.

"We have sent the papers and we will wait for the DPP's response, " he said.

When asked if the 40-year-old suspect – who is currently in police custody – will be charged with murder, DCP Ab Rashid said that this would be up to the DPP.

He was speaking after signing a note of cooperation with taxi-hailing app company PICKnGO Sdn Bhd to insert a feature in its app that allows registered taxi drivers to contact police with a single click.

"We are always looking to improve the safety and security of the public.

"By working together with PICKnGO, we hope to utilise the 10, 000 taxi drivers who are registered with PICKnGO in Selangor as our eyes and ears, " he said during the signing ceremony at Selangor police headquarters on Monday (Aug 19).

The 40-year-old man and his 36-year-old wife were initially nabbed in connection with the Aug 10 incident where a 29-year-old man's vehicle knocked into the couple's car just after the Sungai Besi toll plaza.

Following the incident, the two drivers got involved in a car chase and a scuffle ensued between them at the Bandar Baru Bangi interchange. Witnesses at the scene broke up the fight and the two drivers returned to their vehicles.

The 29-year-old man then got out of his vehicle with a baseball bat and smashed the other car's bonnet and the older driver then lurched his vehicle forward and hit the victim.

The man was pinned between the car and the road divider. He was subsequently rushed to the Nilai Medical Centre but died while receiving treatment.

Both husband and wife were initially remanded for seven days until Saturday (Aug 17). The wife was released but the husband had his remand order extended to Aug 22.
