The STOMPer's mother voiced out these concerns during a parent-teacher meeting, but the school replied that "they have no choice".
Wrote the STOMPer:
"My younger brother is currently in primary 6 and schooling in River Valley Primary School.
"This morning I helped him carry his bag downstairs from my house and I was shocked to discover how heavy his bag was.
"He came home, I weighed the bag, and it was about 7.5kg (excluding his full water bottle).
"I don't understand why he has to bring all the textbooks, workbooks and worksheets when the teachers doesn't even use them.
"During the parent-teacher meeting session, my mum voiced out her concerns to the school and the school merely replied that "they have no choice".
"Why can't the teachers plan their lessons beforehand and tell them what to bring? This will ease their bag load greatly.
"After all, students of this age are growing and such heavy loads everyday are going to make them suffer."
