From Apple to Samsung

Hi guys, gonna get the note 2 tomorrow. Have been with IOS for 4 years. I believe with the launch of Note 2 many IOS users have jumped boat. Was hoping all the bros in the forum could help all the IOS user to get started. Especially helpful will be those that recently jumped boat too so they could understand what the IOS users are familiar with.

Could someone kick start this thread by offering their knowledge... kindda like a quick start guide to Android (or in this case touchwiz). I know rooting guide etc can be found in other threads but hope this can be a truly beginners guide...

Here are some stuff we may like to know from the moment you open the box...

1. Backup (titanium backup? what's a nandroid...?)
2. Registration with samsung, google acc?
3. Most used common app between IOS and Android
4. The must have... (swype...?)
5. Functions that are easier to access using Android
6. Functions thats not possible with IOS (without jailbreaking)

For the jailbreakers
1. Rooting vs jailbreak
2. Custom ROM ( cryogenmod? Miui? etc)

Moving from IOS to Android before selling your iPhone(I'm over this part but I'm sure there are user who wish to know...
Transfering from IOS to Android (contacts, calender etc etc)
My Method:
(This is what I did... may not be the most effective)
a. Create a google account
b. Make itune sync contacts and calender to Microsoft Outlook
c. For Contact: download "Go Contact Sync Mod" and run it
d. For Calender: download "Google Calendar Sync" and run it

Hope this would be a meaningful thread... do chip in your advice and make the learning curve for the boat jumpers a little easier. I guess links to other HWZ thread or web site may be useful if some items have been mentioned before...
