Need advice on buying laptop

Hi all

Been years since i last bought a laptop. Just gave way recently and looking to buy a new laptop. Problem is i’m out of touch with the market since 4 years ago.

Was about to get a macbook pro (touch bar 13inch) until i took a pause. Been a window user my whole life but hate windows 10. Scared i will regret converting.

My usage is pretty much casual, but i dislike slow and laggy machines.

Is macbook pro worth buying over the likes of like xps13 and the higher end zenbook?

Should CPF be changed to Employer contribution only?

Foreigners and Locals, especially in the junior roles have almost similar paygrade 2k+-

However, locals after deduction of employee contribution of 20% cpf. Draws 20% lesser in take home pay than foreigners on work permit.


If government are already profiting through levys, and such.

Why not make CPF contribution for locals from employers only? since it is a saving plan?

eg. 2.5k local after employer contribution is 3k. but take home is 2k
eg. 2.5k foreigner after levy is about 2.9-3.2k (for work permit and s pass) take home is 2.5k
eg. 2.5k foreigner no levy is 2.5k net (for employment pass) take home is 2.5k

Hi, ok so I didn’t do well for my O levels and I enrolled in ITE Central for Higher Nitec course. However, fourth day of orientation , the section head dismissed me because I declared that I had clinical depression. Tried to appeal but to no valid.

I’m currently thinking to enroll into SIMGE International Foundation Programme awarded by University of London, afterwhich I’ll go for Bachelor in Science in International Relations.

I do initially plan to go for social work but the application has closed and only have to wait till next year .

Other consideration is PSB/MDIS .

Any advice would greatly help me ..
I’m struggling so much to decide. :(

Malaysia said that “foreign agents” might be involved in the killing of a Palestinian engineer and member of Hamas at the entrance to a mosque in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday morning. The victim's family and Palestinians blamed Israel's Mossad for the assassination.

“There may be a connection to foreign secret services,” Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, specifying that the two men who allegedly killed Fadi al-Batash were white.



Fadi al-Batash, 35.


Hamas announced that the Palestinian engineer was a member of the organization and Palestinian media reported accusations that the Mossad could be behind the assasination.


According to Palestinian news websites, Fadi al-Batash, 35, was ambushed at the entrance to a mosque and shot at close range by two unidentified motorcyclists. Palestinian sources in Malaysia quoted the police chief as saying the unidentified assailants waited about 20 minutes for Batash outside the mosque. They shot more than 10 bullets at Batash. He sustained wounds to the head and upper body. The shooters fled the scene.


Batash's family, as well as an Islamic Jihad senior leader, Khaled al-Batash, accused Mossad of being behind the assassination, reported Palestinian news sources. They demanded that "Malaysian authorities conduct a comprehensive and rapid investigation to prevent the escape of the assassins." The family said that Batash was supposed to fly to Turkey on Sunday for a science conference on energy. He is married and has three children.

Career Dilemma - Advice needed

Hello All,

I'm 29 this year, working for a foreign bank. New into the job for about 7 months now. Decent pay, nice boss and good work environment/culture.

Recently, my ex-boss from my previous bank (he has left since) asked me if i want to join him at his current employer. He just got promoted to be the department head and wants to grow his team in Singapore. Role wise is pretty much similar, doing strategy and business development/management.

He is offering me a rank promotion and ~15% increment on my base salary. Should I consider moving over?

Serious advice only please. TIA
