The organisation I work for is one of the largest employers in Singapore and I recently found out that for all new hires, despite asking for at least 2 references from shortlisted candidates, they still always call up the previous employer to check on the candidates' behaviour and work performance. Came to know a friend who is relying on parent's money for life plans. Meaning wedding parents help to pay. HDB down payment also parents partial pay (loan instalment they pay).

Then come to know that this friend is kind of "blackmailing" the parents whereby if the parent's house don't leave to her (she has 2 siblings), she won't have kids. Because if have kids, they will have no money for retirement.

And this trend, actually very prevalent which is confusing...

Say you are a parent with special needs dependents, you take care for 15-18 years already. One day you just want to give up already. But I think there is no organizations that will take in special needs patient or even transfer the "parenthood" to gahmen or any agencies. Instead, most of the agencies will ask you to take care and just try to give you some support. If you put them in those special needs care facilities, you still need to pay huge sums of money.
