Heng Swee Kiat lip lai.. limbei gib you budget suggestions..
1. Implement CPF for non-citizens working in Singapore. Many of our FT 同胞 don't have CPF and doesn't have money when they retire. So I say it's time we extend our CPF welfare system to them as well. Since they are not citizens/PR, you can reduce the interest gain from 2.5% to 1%. In addition, they cannot withdraw their CPF even if they stop working in Singapore and go back their country. They can only withdraw it if they convert to Singapore IC/PR at 55 years old after meeting minimum/retirement sum.
2. Implement nationwide NRIC ez-link card system. It's time our smart nation actually get smart liao. No more issuing of ez-link card to unknown identities and end up kena credit card fraud. Now all citizens get their own ez-link in the form of their NRIC and go out only need to bring 1 card instead of 2 cards. With this system, the poor will get automatic top-ups to their ez-link for their transport spends instead of getting $20 vouchers.
It will also be easier to implement concessionary rates / citizen rates for transport. A great example is the maximum $10/day, $60/week, $180/month limits. If a citizen spend more than $10/day on public transport, rest of his trip is free for that day. Transport fares can be increased and more revenue earn from tourists/foreigners who use 1-time cards instead. Foreigners will be 'incentivised' to use private mode of transport and reduce the load on public transport.
3. Open-up water market. Companies can source water (via shipping, building new pipelines from JB/Batam) and increase the quantity of potable water here. Similar to OEM, the Open-water Market (OWM) will give homeowners a chance to purchase water at different pricing. SP group being the MSSL will maintain the infrastructure... :o
4. Increase GST... to 8% for 2019 to 2025. Create a list of GST-free items which should include essentials. While GST is a useful tax to gain government revenue, it is taxing on lower income citizens where every cents count. So a list of GST-free items should be created with advice from charitable organisations / labour unions on what items to be considered essentials and therefore GST-free. Rest of the items will be charged 8% GST.
5. Remove useless spending on useless programmes such as Healthy 365, steps challenge, etc. Instead, every Singaporean / PR who has BMI above 25 or at high risk of diabetes/heart problems must report to Tekong for 12 weeks of "Get Fit" camp. If they fail to get fit, then they must retake another 12 weeks of Get Fit camp until they are fit enough. Each camp will cost $120 and include 2 meals (breakfast / lunch). The training will be similar to the PT training use on recruits given how successful our recruits slim down during their BMT phase. Additional income from this initiative can be used to fill in the Defense budget.
6. Introduce a personal remittance tax for those who send money from Singapore to selected countries (China, India, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam). The tax should be at 5% for amounts below $1,000 and 10% for amounts more than $1,000.

As per topic.
Looking for something as small as possible to pair with smart TV / Android box ... got those all-in-one Microsoft and Logitech keyboard with integrated trackpad but those are pretty much full-sized, I find it not very practical to leave around the living room.

[jin scary] Escape room fire kills five teenagers in Poland
Five teenage girls have died after a fire broke out while they were playing an escape room game in northern Poland.
The girls, all aged 15, were visiting the attraction in the city of Koszalin to celebrate a birthday.
A 25-year-old man was seriously injured in the blaze which started at around 17:00 local time (16:00 GMT) on Friday.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, but officials are carrying out safety checks on every escape room in the country.
Escape rooms, in which participants are locked in a room and must solve a series of puzzles in order to get out, are popular around the world.
The industry has grown rapidly in recent years. In the UK, the number of escape rooms has soared from just seven in 2013 to more than 1,000 as of last year.
The craze of paying to escape from a locked room

Polish President Andrzej Duda said the fire was an "appalling tragedy".
"Five joyful girls starting out in life have had life torn away from them," he wrote on Twitter. "May God protect their parents and loved ones."

Interior Minister Joachim Brudziński also shared his condolences.
"I want to express my sympathy and regrets to the families of the victims of the fire," he said in a tweet.
"I've instructed the chief commander of the State Fire Brigade to carry out fire checks on all places of this type across the country," he added.

[SG NEWS] Red Dot Power exits retail electricity business due to poor profits... :(
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news...iness-11087144
SINGAPORE: Energy provider Red Dot Power has decided to stop providing retail electricity services, and is exiting the market with effect from Friday (Jan 4).
In a notice on its website dated Jan 3, the company cited financial challenges for its decision.
"It has been a financially challenging period for Red Dot Power and we have decided to cease serving all our customers for retail electricity services," it said.
Customers' accounts will remain under Red Dot until Jan 6, and will then be transferred to SP Group the next day with "no disruption to your electricity supply", said the company.
Red Dot was among retailers that participated in last April's pilot launch of the Open Electricity Market - an initiative to open up the power market to competition.
It was one of the retailers that opted out of a nationwide launch last November, which saw the initiative being rolled out across Singapore in phases.
With its exit, there are still more than 10 electricity retailers in Singapore.
Those who want to switch to another retailer can do so after the transfer of their account to SP Group, Red Dot said.
Customers will be not be required to pay any early contract termination charges to Red Dot, and security deposits will also be held by SP Group after the account transfer.
The company added that it was working closely with the Energy Market Authority and SP Group to ensure a smooth transfer.
It said it would continue to operate in other business segments such as solar, battery storage and electric vehicle charging stations.
